WHAT

Project 12 is a ten month discipleship training program. P12's desire is to help you clarify your gifts and calling in Christ. The program includes in-depth biblical studies, prayer, meditation, lectio divina, inner city work with homeless families and children, concert outreaches, and a two week mission trip. Project 12 takes place in the context of a full-time intentional community, Jesus People USA, and is an offshoot of JPUSA.

Jesus' words, "as you have done it unto the least of these you have done it to me," asks us to go beyond both absolute and abstract solutions into a head involved, heart opened, hands on, way of life.

CLASSES

Classes we have offered include New Testament Survey, Old Testament Survey, Community and Growth, 21st Century Worldview (Uncommon Sense), Personal Growth, Communicating Creatively, Romans, God Sex and Dating, The Bible and Current Events, and many others.

In addition to Project 12's own teaching staff, we may include visiting speakers from North Park University / Seminary and elsewhere. We use various documentaries and films to help open communication and interaction on topics as varied as Iraq, homosexuality, poverty, corporations and more. What does God have to say about these things, and what would he have us say? What can we speak into culture while admitting we are often struggling to understand and act properly ourselves, and that at present we "see in part" (1 Cor 13)?

COMMUNITY LIFE

Full-time involvement in JPUSA's shared community life will expose P12 students to work, play, human struggles and interaction, rooted in a shared vision of discipleship. What is community life, whether in a full-time "intentional community" such as JPUSA or a more standard fellowship or church? What is the nature of interrelatedness with being an individual, and what balance can we find between a controlling communal conformity vs. a rabid individualism? All these issues will be encountered in one way or another for any human being, our goal being to help make that encounter one we can discuss and think about and find answers for.

What Project 12 provides will, we earnestly pray, be tailored to each student's needs. The P12 journey is one that all of us, both students and staff, experience and learn from together.
